I'd Rather...

....be having brunch, sippin mimosas, somewhere in New York, talking about dreams with my friends, than go to work today.

#FlashBackFriday

I still remember coming home from second grade, turning on the television and waiting for Clarissa Explains it All to come on. I cant really remember the specifics of the show but i do remember it was one of my favorites. Clarissa was my muse. Everything she wore was so cool and colorful and pretty. I think she probably invented the word "hipster" before it was even a thing. Clarissa wore so many patterns in one outfit it was kind of confusing but still so intriguing at the same time. Besides her wardrobe she seriously had one of the coolest rooms ever! Everything in her room I wanted. From the sign on her door to the bed sheets and her carpet. I tip my hat off to you Clarissa, for your wardrobe will live on forever in 90's children heaven.

Hey Ryan, Happy Birthday. We Love You and This is Why.

The man is not only beautiful he is also humble, insightful, intelligent, funny, talented and he knows the difference between fabric scissors and paper scissors. :)

A list of my favorite Ryan quotes that melt my heart:

  • "I think the one thing I love most about being an adult is the right to buy candy whenever and wherever I want."
  • "I've learned it's important not to limit yourself. You can do whatever you really love to do, no matter what it is."
  • "If I have any particular appeal to women, maybe it's because I listen more than other guys do and appreciate how they think and feel about things."
  • "You know us crazy kids. We'll do anything crazy to our hair."
  • "I like working with actresses, and I like women a lot, not for obvious reasons, but just in that that there's so much about what they bring to the scene that keeps it so interesting. Their instincts are so different, and they never explain them to you."

Yes Please: Petrol Boots

We are well into the month of November and in most areas of the country you would think temperatures have dropped sufficiently enough to the point where wearing boots should be the usual sight right? Wrong. Here in Texas, it's still pretty hot and if we're lucky, we get to feel a slight breeze every once in awhile. But we Texans tend to over exaggerate cold weather. One cold front and everyone wants to throw on their P. Diddy jackets and chinchilla coats.

The jackets are one thing, but don't even get me started on the boots. Much like Flo Rida said, "boots with the fur" is correct. I'm not one to hate on any ones style preferences, believe me I've been on a few worst dressed list in my life, but really, the only time anyone should wear furry boots is if they're traveling to Antarctica for a furry boot convention or something?

I think, if your going to wear boots in 70 degree weather, at least let them be awesome, patent and remind you of mermaids. These awesome Gracie boots by To Be Announced I think do the trick. These boots are what I imagine mermaid pee looks like, colorful, oily and beautiful.

Going Green Avant Garde Fashion Show

This Monday I was excited to be showcasing my work at the annual Avant Garde Going Green Gowns Exhibition during Fashion Week San Antonio. The Avant Garde fashion show gives designers of all levels the opportunity to showcase an original design made of recycled, reused or re-purposed materials. In my opinion the purpose of the fashion show is to showcase something dramatic and out of the ordinary to show that fashion can be made up of just about anything you can imagine.
My design was made of the silver lining inside of ordinary chip bags, mostly Funnyons (my favorite), duct tape, paper and glue. I wanted my deign to look fierce and I wanted my model to look strong and tough. My overall inspiration was medieval knights and their armor. I wanted my design to be over the top representation of knight.
The fashion show was filled with very talented designers, most of them still in high school! I was impressed and honestly very relieved that so many young people in this city are taking advantage of the fashion opportunities that are being presented to them.San Antonio is not the most fashionable city, but the fashion scene is quickly growing. I'm excited to so what comes next and excited for next years San Antonio Fashion Week.
